10 Things to Know About the Amazon Kindle Fire

Here are 10 things you should know about the amazon kindle fire before buying it.

  1. The Kindle Fire is all about content. Yes, they want you to buy the kindle fire, but thats only so that they can sell more content (music, books, magazines, movies etc) from their store.
  2. The Kindle Fire is not an iPad Killer. Its a cheaper, less featured tablet which is was made to do only the basic functions that tablet users want the most.
  3. The Kindle Fire does have a native email client!
  4. You can do streaming video on the Kindle Fire. Amazon Prime, Netflix and Youtube will all be accessible.
  5. The Kindle Fire uses Android and has 8gb of storage.
  6. The Kindle Fire is cheap in price, not quality. The price tag is $199 from Amazon which is a big difference from the iPads $499 starting point.
  7. This is the first step into the tablet world for Amazon and the Kindle line.
  8. It has a 7 inch screen with gorilla glass.
  9. It is very similar to the playbook, except has no camera.
  10. The Kindle Fire is an extension of the Kindle line... not something brand new.

Why You Should Get the Amazon Kindle Fire

Here are some of my personal reasons why I think the Amazon Kindle Fire is a must buy:

  1. Its $199 compared to Apples $499 price tag
  2. It is android based
  3. It offers the same build quality that the Ipad offers, for a fraction of the cost.
  4. It offers basically what you are looking for in a tablet. An E-reader, a movie player, music player, web browser... and whatever apps can do for you. Honestly, if you are looking to "work" on a tablet, then the Kindle Fire might not be for you. (I had trouble working on the Ipad as well for comparison)
  5. You can stick it to Apple by buying the Fire ;)
  6. The Kindle Fire runs off Amazon's cloud, so you don't have to worry about running out of space
  7. You don't need a computer to sync it to. The Kindle Fire is ready to go right out of the box.
  8. You don't have to pay tax because you purchase it from Amazon :)
  9. The Amazon Kindle Fire can play / use flash.
Have any other reasons I should add to this list?
